I report this Wikipedia article in Expert to open up a possible speech as it is full of references (the parts in blue color) also advising to take a look at the Talk (at the top next to Article). Talk about hand valuation and I found it looking for more information on "Total Points".

Thanks for posting, Lovera. Although wikipedia is not always extra-accurate, it does usually cover all the bases and is a reliable source of information. I have not seen this entry before.

What you say may be true. I found it via Google asking what are the "Total points" used to evaluate bridge hands? Regarding accuracy i.e. if you arrive at Method to help when a fit ... the distribution of the two hands is not considered (only the opener's hand is worth 16 points) which would lead to the grand slam (with only 29 HCP) also because there is still +2 to be added points for 4 honors in (at least) one suit on the line (this can be forgotten to do). However, everyone can have their own and even different systems, but if they get good results, it is better to continue and not change it.

Silly question I am sure but what does this wiki article, which contains many aspects that are at least 30 years out of date and even at that time were generally not used by top players, have to do with "Expert Class Bridge"?

If you have a serious interest in this subject, mikeh has written a number of posts about the way real experts do hand evaluation over the years. One simple example of that is here. If you are instead more interested in hand evaluation methods then this legendary thread on ZP is a good place to start. Justin makes a similar point to Mike in that thread, albeit in a typically more concise way. If you are interested in how to adjust hand evaluation methods based on positional factors then a good thread to read is this one. Finally, the BBF specialist on hand evaluation was Tysen Streib, the inventor of TSP. He has not posted here for some time but look for anything from tysen24 for many modern insights into the subject.

You would like to think sometimes that experts edit Wikipedia pages and fix up errors.
I wonder who the editor of that page is/was

I preferred this format of the page anyway - is it different Is this the same content

At least I know where to come for true expert information - does that fall into the "true Scotsman" fallacy? -I'm reading about it on Wikipedia having had my attention raised on one of these forums I believe
