Does anyone know if robot tournament hands are randomly dealt or if BBO has some other way of making them up?
It seems that I read a while back at another site where they could make hands with wilder distributions and other characteristics to make them more difficult (e.g. more blocked suits, subtle communication destroyers, etc.)
I play mostly ACBL 12-board matches with 3 robots and 1 human at each table, but if it's done it would probably apply to any game where robots are used.

Are robot tournament hands randomly dealt, or...

BBO has stated that ACBL hands are dealt randomly using an unbiased PRNG
There are some tournaments that use biased hands, but these are explicitly labeled as Ghoulashes.
I don't recall ever seeing the ACBL run one of these.

Its worth mentioning that, up until last year, hands for the ACBL's F2F tournaments were generated using a laughably insecure method.

Instant tournaments use hands previously played. Of course at the time they were originally played deals were random.
Also, human best hands are not totally random. They are dealt randomly then if the human doesn't have best hand, hands are swapped.
