Something went very wrong with the descriptions here.

Firstly, Gib's 2 apparently denies 4 spades. The bid itself seems fine.

The main problem arises after Gib's 3. My 4 shows 17+ points. Yet there wasn't any alternative bid - the one I really wanted to make was a natural 4. Gib described that as.. a cuebid in spades.

Incidentally, somehow 5 by Gib then shows less points (12-13) than its previous bid (12-16).

Agreed there is no reason that 2D should deny 4 Spades after the 2C interference. I suspect you would have done better to bid 2S - certainly natural and forcing - yourself next. If GIB doesn't support Spades after that, we have a bigger problem.

I think this is a Gib bidding system problem.

First step
With 2 interference, opener's rebid-2 should deny 3-card or 4-card support, and it shouldn't deny 4-card . Here if opener wants to rebid 2, it is really a unreasonable bid because 2 should show " opener reverse -- 5+,4,2-,21-hcp,18-22TPs".
Here, no problem.

Second step
After 2, responder can't rebid 2 to force to game because 2 should show 5-card + 4-card . So it is only way for south seat to rebid 3. Unfortunately opener's rebid 3 only shows 3-card. There is no way for Gib to find another major fit in such case.

Third
See 4 and 4, their explanations are absurb.

Even if responder really rebids 2, opener's 3 raise only shows 3 cards .

Yes obviously the problem is that normally a 2D rebid after 1D 1H denies four spades, but a change should be made to account for this auction where 1S is no longer available.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.
