I notice that both "Google" and "Yahoo" are forum members. I can tell from the list of active forum members logged in in the last 15 minutes.

Strangely enough, I have never seen anyone of those names playing on BBO, nor have they ever posted. I wonder if the world would implode if we revoked their forum memberships just for fun?

Yes. I use Google a lot when looking for old threads. It works better than the search here.

Ah yes. It never occurred to me that google actually had to be a registered forum member for its search engine to work here.

No, it doesn't. You don't have to login to read the forum, just to post.

I think I once noticed some code that recognizes connections from well known search engine crawlers, and rather than just treat them like any other anonymous reader, it creates a login entry for them.
