Agree with pass and then take the slight underbid of 4D.

pass the first time. then show clubs with longer diamonds at game level. i'm guessing (1) 4nt immediately shows equal length, (2) 4h, then 4nt shows clubs and longer diamonds and (3) 4H then 5C shows diamonds with longer clubs. i don't think any of these routes can be slam tries after passing 3H so they should all be different minor combinations.

i would be more worried about missing slam than game not making but there's no sensible way to invite.

I agree with pass after 3 as the hand appears to be a misfit at that point.

But once partner reopens with a double after 3 , it mark him/her with some extras and willingness to play in other suits -- 5 =1 - 4-3 or 6 =1 -3-3. At IMPs, I'm pushing to a vulnerable game.

Agree with "pass" over 3H: Partner holds at maximum 10 HCPs; you have 10 HPCs; no game! But when partner doubles, he shows a maximum and a good 6-card Spades. Then, a singleton 10 is enough to support him. No need to show Diamonds since the suit is mediocre.

1) partner's maximum HCP is more like 18
2) partner hasn't promised 6 spades
3) even if did have 6 spades, a 6-1 fit isn't as good as a 64, 63 or 44 fit.
4) your hand's good enough for game

I'd start with DBL the previous round.

Having started pass, idk what is best now. It looks very close between 4 and 5 . Auction sounds like pd has doubleton .

All looks like a dbl of 3 to me. I'd probably go with 4 at mp and 5 at imps. Hands are corrected to 13 cards after warning by Wank

I like pass the first time (diamond suit is terrible, HQ is waste paper). The second call depends on style a bit - my partner hates to be stolen from in auctions like these and might X a bit lighter than most, so I'd be tempted to just bid 4D especially given the doubleton heart. If partner can be relied on to have a hand of the kind of strength MrAce is saying, then 5D.

ugly, ...

#1 Pass, what else ..., if X over 3H is minors, fine, but for us it is just cards
#2 Pass, ..., hopefully Partner has a doubleton heart

With kind regards

he's unlikely to have any on MrAce's hands - they've all got 14 cards.

Game All, IMPS. 2 part question.
Over 3, I rank
  • Pass = NAT
  • Double = NEG.
  • 4 = NAT.

After partner's re-opening double, I rank
  • 4 = CUE (Hoping to continue with Wank's cunning suggestion of 4N to show s and longer s)
  • 5 = NAT.
  • 4N = ART minors.
  • Pass = PEN. Expecting to defeat 3.
  • 3 = Leaving room for partner to bid 3N.
  • 4 = NAT. Timid.
  • 4 = NAT. Too much trust in partner's quality,
