When I look at the GIB convention card, Western is mentioned twice... "Western Cue bid (GIB doesn't alert western cue with this name"

That's it folks !!! So I guess the question becomes... Where the heck do I find more info on this subject ? And even at that ! This morning I had this ...

KQ7
AT3
T9643
73

in front of me...

2
KJ62
A82
AKQJ8

The bidding... 1C - 1D - 2H - 3D - ???

Hovering over the possibilities with the mouse I get that 3S shows xxx in Spades. At this point I'm certainly not searching for a spade fit. GIB had the oportunity to bid S and chose to rebid D ! Don't want to bid 4D going over 3NT ! So why the heck is 3S not western ? Better yet... Why did GIB not bid 3NT with his KQX in Spades after my reverse.

Please, somebody explain to me what happened here with GIB because this is not, but not at all, fun bridge.

a western cue is a cue of the opponent's suit.

Thx but the main question is... why not bid 3NT instead of the wasteful 3D on such a rotten suit ?

Your point is completely valid. No doubt GIB's second call should have been in No Trump.

However, your 2H call was not a reverse. It was a jump shift, thus game forcing. A sensible partner could safely bid 2NT over that, knowing it could not be passed. Lebensohl/Ingberman does not apply to this auction. Once again, it in no way affects your point about GIB, but I would have bid only 1H since the hand isn't really worth a game force.

Had partner's first response been 1S, 2H would be a reverse.

One thing not mentioned. Gib supposedly plays Lebensohl after reverses. I still agree rebidding 3D even if sets up a force on such a ratty suit is wrong and 3N is better.

Even at that, my other question is not answered...

On the 3D bid, why would 3S show spades ? Gib skipped them !

If I have Spades stopped I would bid NT myself. Therefore, at this point 3S can only mean one intelligent thing... If you stop Spades partner, bid 3NT.

According to Gib's specifications it does play Western cuebids. "Western Cue bid (GIB doesn't alert western cue with this name) "
I don't think 3 would be a Western cuebid as opponent's haven't bid. But I agree 3 at this point should be asking not showing akin to 4th suit forcing but you are already game-forced.

None of us can answer that. Any human player with even a little bit of experience understands that looking for 3NT is the top priority in minor-suit auctions. GIB has no concept of overall priorities. Apparently, since either call would be forcing, the programmers have made rebidding a five card suit a higher priority than showing its double stopper in the unbid suit.
