Pass, not really that close. I have good D and expect to beat them and I have a lot of losers so I'm not going to bid to the 5 level.

I think it might depend a little on what our 4S defence is. If playing (the admittedly old-fashioned) X as value-showing, primarily penalty and 4NT as your take-out then this hand can afford to double. If playing X as take-out and 4NT as 2 places then you have to pass this one.

I DBLed and partner did bid 4NT (he had 2155) and I did bid 5H. DBled by LHO.
(4S)-DBL-(P)-4NT
(P)-5H-(DBL)-AP
5Hx did go -4, 4S would probably go -1.

I've learned to be very conservative with 6322 over a 4M preempt (not spades over hearts obv).

I suppose if playing pairs you would like to be able to dble and hear partner pass. Fortunately for me I am not able to do that as dble is t/o.
Pass and take a plus.

Opponents are rabbits - 5H to bounce them into 5S.
Opponents are well-disciplined - PASS.
Opponents are hair-trigger doublers -
this hand ain't even close.

Playing standard style where the X is mostly takeout I would pass, but i think the double is probably a fair gamble. Since partner is still going to pass very often and the X will look nice on the traveller. These are the hands that make me like penalty-ish doubles.

From Psych "I mean, Gus and I never see eye-to-eye on work stuff.
For instance, he doesn't like being used as a human shield when we're being shot at.
I happen to think it's a very noble way to meet one's maker, especially for a guy like him.
Bottom line is we never let that difference of opinion interfere with anything."
