3S preempt XX - what action? you X 3S and you get 3S XX back...

Hm, and now??? There are several options... What is your reasoning?

How is partner supposed to express I was going to pass 3♠X if you now bid. Consequently pass in a flash and your partner will realize he has to bid here just like he would over 3♠X [i.e. HE MUST SAVE YOU FROM PASSING] This also prevents psyches in this situation.

Being an imp tourney the decision is a difficult one. On the one hand you have the logical thing that partner has the spades for he wouldn't let the contract redoubled unless he thinks it's going down. On the other hand it is also logical for some people that the pass asks partner to bid his best suit.

I'd ask RHO what redouble means, but in general I'd bid 4♥. Unless redouble is 'business'.

This is basic bridge. The pass by partner is for penalties. The only time a pass of a redouble is not for penalties is after a takeout double of one of a suit (unless you have a specific agreement to the contrary).

Yes, partner is a passed hand. That does not mean he can't hold QJ9765 of spades and out. The fact that you are void in spades is more of an indication that partner's pass is for penalties.

This is a clear pass.

I agree with the posters above. Pass is obvious here as partner has made a penalty pass.

Just pass, if partner didn't want to defend 3♠ then he should've bid something. If you're unable to play 3♠xx, your opps will always redouble when they know they're in trouble.

Perhaps 3NT by partner in such situation could be artificial, because it will be rare to want to play 3NT but don't want to defend a redoubled contract.

I would pass. Bidding 3NT may be overbidding and suits probably won't split evenly, so 3NT will be difficult for sure. Better take a sure plus.
