Undiscussed in a 2/1 context where 1NT was forcing, what does the rdbl here show?

Did the 1NT response possibly include some game forcing hands?

If not, xx just shows extras and a club control, opener's been given three ways to bid 3D, 3D (weakest), pass (medium), xx (strongest, should show a club card). That's assuming partner can't have a game force and hence 3C shows a good diamond raise.

If 1NT might have included, say, a balanced game force then 3C is asking for a club stop; xx should show a stop that can be led through e.g. Axx or Kxx, allowing responder to bid 3NT with Qx or similar and get it right-sided.

p.s. having all these options just shows how silly the double of 3C is. South has already made a passed hand overcall of 2C, which tends to be primarily lead directing to start with, what does he think partner is going to lead?

I don't think right-siding is a big issue in this auction, but otherwise I agree with Frances.

My metha rules is it shows A with nothing else on the suit, I think allowing Kxx is superior on this sequence, but I think not on all of them, so you have to have a nother rule to separate when its allowed and when it is not.

I'm assuming 3C! = good Diam raise.
Could the RDBL be ASKING for a -stop in this sequence ?
Maybe Opener is considering 9 tricks to be more feasible than 11.
With a -stop himself, he might have just bid 3NT .

its probably just me but I use the following:

pass = what I said I had and nothing in clubs

xx = partial stopper in clubs

3n = stopper in clubs

other bids just show extra distribution and
should deny the ability to bid 3n or xx.

4c = club shortness

the advantages are numerous and the xx in
particular can allow us to reach a NT game
(or avoid a poor slam) where there is no
other easy way to get there.

this is rarely going to be a hand where
right siding is important.

I have no idea what 3 means!
XX is just the confuse the situation more.

Without prior discussion, don't make those ambiguous bids.

Assuming 3 clubs was a good diamonds raise with a great interest in 3NT or 5m.

After a cuebid gets doubled I play the following.

pass-Stopper or half stop (partner can then ask)
NT- double stop
XX shows xx or xxx in the suit
new suit shows shortness

Works fine for me
