What about the rest of your defense to a 2♦ preempt i.e.
Double = takeout of ♦
2NT = Natural, balanced, HCP range according to partnership agreement
New suit = Natural (is this forcing or non-forcing according to partnership agreement?)

I looked up Michaels cuebid again. These guys say use Michaels with a weak hand (5-10 HCP) or a strong hand (16+ HCP). With an intermediate hand (11-15 HCP) bid the higher ranking suit first. I put these numbers through BBOs deal generator to get an idea of the frequency of occurrence. This is what was spat out:
0.45% = 5-10 HCP
0.33% = 11-15 HCP
0.08% = 16+ HCP
0.86% = Overall frequency of occurrence
I don't like this suggestion of yours here. I prefer this -
2D (3D) majors (this is fine, no problem; use it for the weak Michaels hand i.e 5-10 HCP)
2D (4C)
2D (4D)
2D (4N) blackwood [Blackwood with no suit agreed upon? Can you please give some more detail as to what you have in mind here?]

This can be extended further as follows -
1. With slam interest in either major, bid 4♦ to ask for the major
2. With no slam interest, bid 4♥ as P/C

That just doesn't work. What does the advancer bid with a poor 4144 hand? I'd sure like to play 4S when it's right. That's why people suggest having 2 bids to show clubs and a major.
