I suppose I should clarify for our non-American friends in case they aren't familiar with NY vs Chicago style pizza.

NY pizza looks something like this:

Chicago pizza is thicker and the sauce goes on top, like this:

thanks for explanation, this "chicago-style" seems not to be very popular in Europe,
I have never tried it here.

My first ship in the Navy was homeported in Yokosuka, Japan. My first or second day there I walked out into town to see the sights. One thing that surprised me was a Shakey's Pizza Parlor. So I went in to see what they had. Somehow Octopus pizza didn't ring my chimes. :-)

There was an article in a recent Cook's Illustrated about deep dish pizza. One of the author's comments was about the "Chicago Grill/Pizzeria Uno" version. Apparently, "Chicago style" pizza was invented at Pizzeria Uno in Chicago many years ago, but Chicago Grill is a chain, and no relation to the original Pizzeria Uno, and their version is not nearly as good as the "real thing" (which apparently I've never had - I guess I'll have to try the Cook's Illustrated recipe one day).

Some Malnati guy was the inventor of Chicago style pizza, if my food history and memory are accurate. Rudy, perhaps?

Course, we all know that Sir Francis invented Bacon, but who invented the avacado? Peter Townsend? (World history of pork, fruit, and rock 'n roll for $1000, Alex)

Avogadro, but to avoid confusion with his number, they went with a pseudonym...

hmm, its hard to say...we know, the first written account of the avocado has been done by Spaniards at the beginnig of the XVI century. Maybe by the same man who invented the pizza >>> Francisco Pizzarro???. Anyway, the first receipt of pizza with bacon and avocado has been published in Sir Francis Bacon work "De dignitate et augmentis scientiarum" A.D. 1623

Norway third in medal count at the olympics so far? LOL, population of like 5 million, and they are the best at EVERYTHING. So freaking sick, what a country.

They live in the snow, what do you expect?

They also have the best chess player, 3 of the best 10 bridge players in the world, a junior bridge team that won a gold medal recently on top of the best winter athletes, and they have a basically tiny population. It is just unreal how good Norway is at everything for it's size.

Snow activities and indoor activities, two things that probably coorelate very strongly with how much snow they get. I bet they do a lot worse in the summer olympics!

Btw, country that does worst in olympic medals per capita? India :)

Well, Norway isn't only a small country compared to the US, it is also small when compared to Canada or Sweden or Germany or Austria.
But of course they have the most beautiful coastline on the world, too.

There's a saying in my country to talk about people who have guts to do stuff: they're more corageous than the guy who ate the first avocado.
