But sorry me bidding 2NT rather than those who bid 1NT is not an explanation
Yes it has two singletons, an Ace, and a nice club fit but not much else
Was my "no stoppers to bid" the problem despite having stoppers in all suits
After 4H what is my bid please????

this issue here is not with your bidding

even the slightly light 2N opener is more than reasonable

What was the description for 4NT? Was it to play?

Would have to put it through the bidding engine to find where I went wrong lol

But it beats me. Arguably (and I know no alternatives) this is the premier commercial Bridge robot

And I have worked in SW so hate dissing software people but a bit of control logic

I had 4 spades which I respume suggests some kind of control or stopper
4 NT no idea
5 clubs. Lets go for game. No stoppers to bid

We are talking stoppers and not Aces too lol

1. In my opinion, you (South) made zero illogical or erroneous bids. Even though 2NT is technically 20-21, your hand is worth a 2NT opening bid.

2. In my opinion, North made a "judgement call" when it raised to 6. You may well have had one (or even both) Major Suit Ace. The KJ in both majors were wasted, but the bot would not know that.

3. I don't exactly know how the bot runs simulations during bidding (smerriman is the guru on all such matters) but from North's perspective, the slam looks like a positive EV call. This time it was wrong; bad luck.

In all honesty, I like the bidding by both South and North.

Sorry. The point is you again are ignoring the message you are communicating. In this case 5 "no stoppers to bid". So you don't have wasted values in that's why the bot can calculate you must have Ace and 6 must be a good proposition.

Like the previous topic my advice; Hover over a bid before clicking on it. It'll show you what you promise and if that doesn't comply with your hand pick a more fitting solution.

Yes, stoppers. NOT irrelevant. The bot simply calculates what honors you MUST have in order to get to 20 HCP, not having stoppers in the majors, and in doing so KNOWS you hold KQJ, AKJ and at least one ace in the majors. So the bot KNOWS 6 is cold.

Any good human player with the same agreements in this bidding sequence would come to the same conclusion.

I'm not sure about the bots cue bidding style here and would expect it to be showing 1st round controls rather than stoppers.

And yes, I know that the alert says stoppers, but I am far from confident that is an accurate description of what's going on...

4NT was Blackwood and 4 spades was a cue bid

Nowhere to hide
