Scrambled a last minute team as it frequently happens, with

Phil + mgolden
diana_eva + phoenix214

We won 48 to 36, with a few swings both ways.

Well played everybody! :)
  • I much prefer 2N to 3. IMO, 4N is premature.
  • I prefer 1 to 1 and 1. I dislike 2N with a major singleton.

OK, on the first you inquire with 2N and discover partner has a max and three spades.

I opened 2N on the 2nd. I bought Qxx xx J98x KTxx. Got a heart lead, knocked out the club, heart back and played a diamond to the T, and Q. Now the spade shift comes but diamonds come home. LHO had Axxx J9xxx T xxx.

On the 1st hand i would explore a slam, with a natural forcing 4.
On the 2nd hand, well bid and well played!

Partner had K9x KJxx AKTx xx. I just bid 5N since I wanted to keep 6C in play.

6D is a pretty good contract but unfortunately failed.
