Robot Rebate tourney. Yes, I doubled with only 2 diamonds, but felt that was the most accurate call. I was looking over my options on how to bid a slam here, and it seems that 5NT (hoping it would be pick a slam) has the same definition of the original double. 5S and 6C would also have been a cuebid, so it would seem I have no way to show this hand. It seems that even if double guaranteed 3 diamonds, it would be nice to be able to get to a potentially superior club fit. To do a Lycier, I went to a bidding table to see what it would do over a 5NT bid, and well, you can see below:

Yup, that means that 5NT is not ill-defined, it's simply undefined.
The description you see is just carry-over from your previous bids (here the X).

"Pick a slam" seems to me incredibly difficult to define for a computer.
- On EXACTLY what auctions does it apply?
- On EXACTLY what hands will you use it?
- How should partner react to it?

I would define pick a slam as all auctions without explicit suit agreement (assuming we are not in a quantitative situation), the minimum promised length* or 1 in partner's suit (whichever is larger), and guaranteeing 30+ total points combined, hopefully the program can do the math required there. As for how to bid over it, let the GiB do a simulation based on those parameters. It's not a perfect solution, but if that isn't feasible then how about making it Grand Slam Force? That is a convention that the GiBs already know, and it is surely more useful than some undefined bid. When was the last time you wanted to play 5NT in this auction?
* though guaranteeing at least a 7 card fit in at least one of partner's suits.
