4th set: cherdano-broze 11-39

Overall I won by 23 IMPs, based on a 3rd set where I got extremely lucky due to several dumb bids by broze's GIB won due to my superior partnership skills, keeping my partner happy and engaged.

I lost my match to elwood913 by 26 - 33
http://webutil.bridg...8065&u=gordontd

Against barmar I seem to have accidentally only put 8 boards in the original invitation so we played it in two parts and the total was 34 - 31 to me.

Nige1 won the last 51-31 as I tried to go for wild swings all over the place. Good luck in the semis!

>> FOR PEOPLE WHO DIDNOT MAKE IT TO THE KNOCKOUT PHASE, PLEASE RESPOND THIS MESSAGE IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THE CONSOLATION EVENT..
1) The full details (length etc.) will be decided based on the number of entrants.
2) Maximum number of boards you play per week 2 x 16 boards.
3) The system will be a Swiss with some kind of carryover from group matches. Each time, we will announce the next two matches.
4) Players who got knocked out from the Knockout Phase in R16 or QF can join the Consolidation Event if they prefer. They will also get carryover putting them around 50th percentile.

Can you explain what the carryover scores were based on?

Hey Gordon,
For carryover:
1) For people who got knocked out in the groups: We give 50% of VPs they collected.
2) People who got knocked out in the R16: After ordering the guys above (only 5 of them registered), we put these guys somewhere between the 3rd and 4th place with some weighted average - so assuming a fluid field, it is 33.33th percentile (from lowest to highest VP).

The goal of the consolation is mainly fun, and original plan was to include R16 losers in the later stages of a longer Swiss - however, the re-registration (for consolation) period took a while and the number was lower than our expectation. I believe that it would be unfair to give R16 losers 50% of VPs they collected in the group stage, because they actually played in the KO Stage. 33.33th percentile was kind of random, but it will be the same for QF losers if the tournament is 5-rounds. If only 4 rounds, I think we may need to put them to 50th percentile to give them a shot. (Note: I will only play if the total number is odd to even it up, so I don't have any personal ambition or something doing this:) )

It just strikes me as odd that some of those who qualified for the knockouts should get a smaller carryover than those who didn't. But of course it is for fun and is not a big deal.
