I am new to BBO.
I am looking for the basic rules of contest for individual tournaments such as those on BBOLAND or SKYCLUB. Can't find them on the BBO site or their websites.
Also, what system of bidding is used in these tournaments? SAYC? or do you agree with partner before each round or board?
sorry if these questions have been asked, as I can't find the answers in the forum or bbo.

Tournements are run by private clubs, organizations like the acbl or bboland, and by private individuals who have asked for the power to be tournment directors. Each of these "entities" can define their rules, decide who is and who is not eligible to play, etc. This includes what systems are allowed. In ACBL individual events, for instance, there is a default convention card that everyone uses (preloaded). You can always agree to something else with the partners as you move around.
I usually agree to play my partners profile or they lack one, ask them if they can play mine. Also become familar with BBO basic..if you play in individuals, most partners should know and be able to play that.

Thanks for the reply! Do you know where and if SKYCLUB and BBOLAND post their conditions of contest? I have looked on their websites and don't find it.
I will review ACBL default card and BBO basic.

In all my Individuals' Contests, I insist on SAYC ONLY. There is no time to formulate conventions and there is no time to establish defenses to their system bids, e.g. "How do we defend against their 1C precision?"
You must remember that in Individual contests, the emphasis will be on judgement in bidding and good defense, and not on intricate sequences like a 10-12 NT openings with a sophisticated run system over their doubles.
Finally, to promote harmony and friendship, do NOT allow things like Multi, Bergen and 2-suiter openings. It ruins the enjoyment.
