Strange thing, despite all this pulling the rug out of trusted allies around the world, we are supposed to keep sikning our money into the defence industries of Europe and USA. Why? All a bit manipulated situation. Destroy all the good investments, make people suffer and repalce it with war

Sorry for ranting but I find it irritating, arrogant and patehtically ad that at a time the USA and others are undermining their most loyal allies they keep telling us (and some people listen) that we need to keep buying their weapons to follow them into other ill-advised wars. Hopefully this time our little (relatively0 country can learn to stand up for itself and not keep groevlling to the war loving Europeans and Americans

We are coming up to an important day in Australia which strangely has gone fromm remembering the ridiculous brutality of our service men and women being sacrified for petty conflicts on the other side of the world, to being lectured by everyone that we may have to do it again. Sorry wrong language. Our brave service men and women saving our allies around the world from their stupidity

Where can we move our investments though. MAGA have demolished about 20% off me so far (equity and currency). I know when the world goes parcohial and national socialist most people don't care about currency. But some of us are international citizens.

And it would be nice to think the leadership are not so petty as to attack oridnary citzens who post on social media but I don't even trrust them that much. Go after Australia today. But if people want to mess with my investments I think I have a right to comment. It's all about trust - ie who do we trust to make us money for our risk. My point is more about control economies versus freedom. Not quite as scary as GFC or Covid yet but 20% is too much poorer for me today. I know I sound selfish but it is all I have and time is running out to keep recovering losses

1. Trump has been atrocious for the stock market. I suspect that its going to get worse before it gets better
2. The market doesn't always go up. If you don't understand this, you probably shouldn't be investing
3. We were due for a correction almost regardless

FWIW, I had considered retiring a couple years back. I decided not to because while I had "enough" money for a comfortable retirement assuming average returns, I would potentially be very exposed to a major correction and returns had been too good for too long. So, I decided to keep working. And, right now, I expect to keep working for another five or so years (because I too am down a fair amount and I need to recover this, make up for years where my portfolio is going down rather than up, and then have that buffer in place for the next down turn)

And yes, this really sucks

But you know what? There's a whole bunch of people in the world who are actually going die because of Trump, Musk, and the like.
And a whole bunch more who are going to be tortured or lose limbs or ...

So, spending my time bitching relatively insignificant concerns?

Of course "WTF" exactly describes my ongoing thoughts of this administration. I have always believed we should all be open to discussion but I cannot have a rational discussion with someone who thinks that retired people do not care whether or not they get their Social Security check.
