I was looking at some cc's from EC in Opetaja and noticed that they were mostly using two ranges for bal hands. T.i Less than 11 and more. With the weaker bid 1Nt and the stronger one make a relay. Im curious if it is the best aproach and why people dont use an invitatinal bid there.
Thanks

I ... don't understand the question. Are you talking about responses to a 1 opening?

It is common to play a 1s respinse as split range and 1nt reaponse as 8-10. But some play 1nt as invitational. This way you avoid playing 2 nt.

This way you also avoid playing in minor suits, as both partners seem to bid the same way whether they are 5-2 or 2-5 in the minors. If playing strong NT openings, there seems little advantage to playing 1-1NT as 8-10.
