BBO forum,
This question may belong in "Laws and Rulings".

Does a trump fit bid have to be alerted since you
are bidding a legitimate suit?

There must be BBO alert regulations available somewhere.

ACBL Aldet Procedures are at: http://www.acbl.org/...procedures.html

Are you talking about fit jumps? Here's the relevant excerpt:

Quote

Natural bids that convey an unexpected meaning must be Alerted. This includes strong bids that sound weak, weak bids that sound strong, and all other bids that, by agreement, convey meanings different from, or in addition to, the expected meaning ascribed to them.

The jump bid is natural, but it also shows support for opener's suit. This fits both the "unexpected meaning" and "meaning in addition to" criteria quoted above, which makes it alertable.
