BBO could distribute processing a little like SETI by distributing GIB, robot processing to players' CPUs.
This could be done for the player involved, or distributed to other players, perhaps on the basis of how much CPU power they have.
Then maybe free tourneys could go back to an 800 limit!

We have no problem renting more robot servers, and we've alreary done so.

But there's a central server that mediates all the activity at traditional tables and tournaments, and it's not designed to be distributed among multiple machines. We're looking into ways to split it up, but it's tricky.

That would make it far too easy to cheat, and would be a substantial development effort.

One advantage would be that you could probably attach a better robot.

Perhaps traditional tables and regular non robot tournaments could be on separate servers? Whatever you can do to allow BBO to adapt and grow and prosper is always welcome!

This is something we've actually been considering. We would need to redesign things like chat so that you could chat with people on the other server.
