Is there a way to show "friend" or "enemy" when choosing a partner for tourneys?? Inadvertently, I have asked someone to be my partner, when there was no way to tell that I have him listed as enemy-mostly for bad bidding/play?

If you click on someone's name, you can see his profile before inviting him to be your partner.

I think friends and enemies are shown in different colors.

in the web version, you can create categories of players

and assign different colors

the colors show at the partnership desk

sometimes i mark people in the good players category , not necessarily as a friend but because i dont want to be notified when they log in evry time

the clour shpw in the tourneys so i can double the bad ones for penalties and bid one less if the opp is veyr good.

Bradley, see the link above.

Thanks. I couldn't find that using the BBO Help feature.

Bradley, see the link above.

Great. I'm now making good use of this feature. But, it appears that we can only access it when the other player is either at our table or online and also either on our friends list or on a list of players in a tournament. It would be convenient to be able to access it anytime we can view the profile, most especially when reviewing "My Results".

Along the bottom of someone's profile there are four buttons: "Join table", "Favorite CC", "Pin" and "Close". Could you add "Select Category" to those? I'm sure this is very low priority.

As you probably noticed, one of the big plusses of the web-client (versus the Window client) is that you can interact with profiles in the web-client and do a lot of useful things through these popups. We have been intentionally conservative when it comes to adding more buttons to the profile popups on the theory that there is already a lot of stuff in these windows and we don't want to overwhelm inexperienced users with additional possibilities.

The whole "categories" thing was basically an experiment intended for more sophisticated users. If we get some indication that it is both useful and something that the average user can deal with, perhaps we will make access to categories more salient.

In the mean time, if you right click on the player name of the title bar of a profile popup, you will see a menu that includes "Select category".

Possibly a tiny issue - possibly just me.

But I find that if I try to assign a new category colour to an existing "yellow", I have to do it twice. The first attempt only sets up the new category, without changing the colour of the yellow, and the second attempt then assigns the colour to the yellow.

This effect is not observed with non-yellows. If I assign a general player a new colour then it catches immediately.
Psych (pron. saik): A gross and deliberate misstatement of honour strength and/or suit length. Expressly permitted under Law 73E but forbidden contrary to that law by Acol club tourneys.

Psyche (pron. sahy-kee): The human soul, spirit or mind (derived, personification thereof, beloved of Eros, Greek myth).
Masterminding (pron. mPosted ImagesPosted ImagetPosted Imager-mPosted ImagendPosted Imageing) tr. v. - Any bid made by bridge player with which partner disagrees.

Creating a new category does not automatically assign the user in question to the category you created. After the category is created you need to click the "select" button associated with that category.

A quick test suggests that this works (and that both steps are necessary) for both yellows and non-yellows. If you try and again and if it is not working as described, please let me know.

The interface may be less than ideal in this area - sorry about the confusion.

This is only true for a player who is at my current table. If I open the profile of anyone else and right-click on the title bar, my choices are Print, Settings, Global Settings, and About Adobe Flash Player.

Thanks for your help.

You have to right click in the rectangle that contains the player's name (at the left of the title bar).

This contains an example where red was chosen for a category color. Some time ago I did this, too, and subsequently several times I thought that a player with this category assigned was disconnected.
