If "kinda" means "sort of" or almost, then I agree and would pass. After all, pd his short in spades and hasn't said anything. If "kinda" means "trivial", as in kindergarten, then I disagree; the problem is not trivial.

He could easily have x xxxx xxxx xxxx so 4 is easy- he having 2 spades is just as likely.

I always pass these hands, but am beginning to think that I am too conservative.

I have to admit that at the table I would almost certainly pass. i hate going for numbers more than I hate missing games that require very aggressive bidding.

Having said that, I recognize that we may be missing the boat here....I mean, why can't partner hold a stiff spade and 4 little clubs?

I have a lot of respect for 4....please tell me that LHO held AKQx xxx xx AJ109 and whacked it ;)

pass.. I don't have a bid so I just don't bid.

4, sometimes I have extra length for this bid, sometimes I have extra strength. This could work very poorly.
I once yelled at my partner for discarding the 'wrong' card when he was subjected to a squeeze that I allowed by giving the wrong count with too high a card. Now he's allowed to pitch aces when the opponents have the king in the dummy. At trick 2. When he could have followed suit. And blame me.

Partner did not negX, nor 2D,2H, nor C-raise
(of course after 1S overcall, he may not know real
clubs here fits 3-support clubs).
I still hope for 3xclubs and 0-1xS -- I get a S-ruff.
Do I have DSIP? I try that. No. 4C.

Easy 4. By the way, partner will have a void spade more often than two.

4 but I don't like it too much. I like OleBergs suggestion in that it gets diamonds to the picture cause I'm mostly worried partner might have x xxx xxxxxxx xx or similar. However I'm not ready to go to the 5 lvl in the likely event partner tries for the game.

4, but I consider 4 an option. Double might have to convert five hearts into 6 clubs

4 stands out. I do not feel stuck here, because 4 describes what I have, a jump rebid in if partner had responded. I do not understand how one can pass. Is partner supposed to balance vulnerable with x,xxx, xxxxx,Axxx ?

Is he supposed to raise 4 to 6?

(Mind you, I agree that pass is incomprehensible. I believe in my double, but consider 4 a reasonable alternative.)

No, but I would expect to get raised to 5. I admit freely I do not reach all good slams and at the same time avoid the bad ones.
I do work on it though :)
