WD limiting who can post in which forums.

Now, if only you can figure out how a member can filter out certain forums. Its still irksome to click View New Content and see over half of the posts related to issues with GIB.

Phil, if you set your link so that it makes it look like you've read all the GIB posts, then they won't show up when you look for new content. I did this a while ago, and if you're interested PM me, and I'll figure out how I did it.

I have no complaints to removing the threads in question but I think the point of this thread was to post every moderator decision, not just the ones that are easy to motivate. I couldn't care less about posts like "removed a thread advertising porn" or what not, but this was a pretty high-profile case so people might want to know about the fact that the threads have been deleted. Alternatively, if the mods prefer not to motivate their decisions, just close this thread or say clearly that only the unimportant decisions will be mentioned here.

edit: this is the fourth time I am asking about this and the mods repeatedly answered that the point of the thread is to document all the mod actions. Could the Mod team please make it an official policy to document every edit, instead of just promising to do so?
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

I haven't posted here because the other mods didn't get to see what was done and discuss how to deal with the situation.

But since it was mentioned, yes I removed two threads from General Bridge Discussion, one started by cherdano and another started by rhm. I also edited and removed some off-topic comments in the Cheating Allegations thread, some of which had prompted cherdano's thread.

Well I mean I don't see what's wrong with posting "I removed two threads and we are in the process of deciding what to do about the situation in the future" here. Anything is better than not posting at all here. Maybe this is just my opinion.

Removed a personal attack in the Intermediate/Advanced Forum, along with subsequent replies. Warned the offender.

Removed another attack by same poster in I/A and suspended their posting privileges for 30 days. Also removed a couple of follow-up replies. Thanks for reporting the post.

Nothing very clever, just repeated digs at a particular poster that the offender seems to have an issue with. The most recent one answers the question and then adds the comment "but don't ask <so-and-so>".

If you are not going to let hrothgar have a go at the trolls then perhaps you need to make trolling against the terms of usage...

Yeah very tempting, but it's probably gonna resurface. Other mods are free to chime in obviously, I just did something quickly bec the post was too bad to let it stay there.

Unapproved a topic in the Water Cooler which TBH I don't really know what meant. We'll clarify with the poster what that was about and consider restoring if it turns out I misunderstood something.

Deleted the thread "Error on Beat by robbot" at the OP's request, because he misunderstood the bidding explanation.

There were two threads about problems adjusting the chat pane. I removed the one in Suggestions for the Software, and left the one in BBO Support.

I bet you'll make a similar post again, shortly.

But you should also think about what is causing the problem here. The post that caused this insult ("you ignorant piece of **") is indeed absolutely idiotic, and insulting to the problems faced by a large number of actual people.

I just do not understand why this thread is tolerated on BBF. The watercooler is meant for BBF members to have a place to go if they feel like taking the discussion off-topic. The global warming thread instead mostly attracts posters who do not post outside the watercooler, or in many cases not even outside this thread. And for the most recent additions among those, it is really hard to tell whether they are just trying to provoke (i.e., being a troll), or whether they are indeed as idiotic as their posts.

I closed the Global Warming thread, pending discussion with the other mods to decide whether we allow it to stay or not. Removed a rude post there too and handled the offender.

Thanks for the heads-up, cherdano.

The problem is not with the topic but with a few posters (who don't confine their vituperation to the climate thread).
